Together · Chapter 19
Spaces and members
A space is the shared place of a group, say “Family”, “Club” or “Moving house project”. Every board lies in exactly one space, and whoever is a member there sees it.
Creating a space
Click New space in the sidebar, enter a name and pick one of eight colours. Any account may do this, and whoever creates a space manages it. You change name and colour later on the space's page under Space options, Name and colour.
Three rights
| Right | may |
|---|---|
| Read | open boards and follow them live, export and save them as a JSON Canvas |
| Write | on top of that change things, upload photos, create and copy boards and put them in the bin |
| Manage | on top of that invite people, give rights, public pages, rename or delete the space, shape packages and templates of your own |
Inviting members
On the space's page, the number of members opens the members window. You also get there through Share in the board and Manage members.
- By name: If someone already has an account, you enter their name under Name of an account, choose the right and click Invite. They see the invitation as a badge on their picture and under New for you, and accept or decline it.
- By link: For everyone else you choose the right and, under Valid for, one, seven or thirty days, and click Create invitation link. The link works once and is only shown now. If a mail server is set up, you enter an address and let it send the link with Send the link by mail.
Open invitations, by name and by link, are listed below and can be taken back with Withdraw. A second link to the same address replaces the first. Whoever gets a link can also accept it through the sign-in service.
Every member sees this window, not just managers: who has access, with which right, through which teams, and how many people that comes to. Only managers can change anything.
Teams
The operator makes teams under Settings, Teams with New team, with a name, a colour, members and a lead. From then on the lead changes the members. A team is for the whole server and separate from the spaces.
You give a space a team under Settings, Spaces, with the Teams button next to the space: choose the right, done. Every member of the team then has that right. Someone with a higher right of their own keeps the higher one.
Changing rights, removing, leaving
In the same window you change the right of any member or take them out with Remove. Whoever wants to go themselves clicks Leave. If you are the last manager, nexcanvas warns you first, because without a manager nobody can invite people any more.
Deleting a space
Move space to the bin under Space options puts it into the bin with all its boards. Under Settings, Spaces, Spaces in the bin you bring it back with Restore for 30 days.
Cora saysA space you are not a member of does not exist for you, not even its name. Only the operator sees and manages every space with its boards; when they change rights in yours, you get a message.
