Getting started · Chapter 3
Moving around the board
A board has no edge. So that you don't get lost on it, nexcanvas fits it when you open it so that you see everything. From there you pan and zoom wherever you like.
Panning
- Mouse wheel: moves the board up and down, and sideways with Shift.
- Hold Space and drag: moves in any direction, whichever tool is chosen at the moment. The middle mouse button does the same.
- The hand: the Move the board tool (key H) turns every drag of the mouse into panning.
Zooming
With Ctrl and the mouse wheel, or with two fingers on the trackpad, you zoom exactly at the spot you are pointing at. The keys + and - zoom in steps, and at the bottom right the same buttons sit next to the percentage. A click on the number or Ctrl + 0 jumps to 100 per cent. nexcanvas zooms from 10 to 400 per cent.
Show everything (Shift + 1) fits the whole board into the window. You also find it as an icon to the right of the zoom and in the right-click menu.
Cora saysIf the pointer is over an area that scrolls itself, such as the shape library, the mouse wheel belongs to that area. The board then stays still.
Undo and redo
Ctrl + Z takes a step back, Ctrl + Shift + Z or Ctrl + Y brings it back. The two buttons for this are at the bottom left. Undo only takes back what you did in this browser window, never the work of the others.
On the phone
One finger moves the board, two fingers zoom and pan at the same time. More in the chapter On your phone.
