Arranging · Chapter 12
Keep building with the plus
One idea leads to the next. So that you do not have to place a note and a line separately every time, every selected thing has a small plus on each of its four sides.
The plus
Select a note, a shape, a text, a photo, a file or a link. A + appears on all four sides. Clicking it opens the Add menu:
- The same again attaches an identical thing, in the same colour and size, but empty. This is there for notes, shapes and texts.
- Note or Text.
- Recent shows the four things you attached last.
- Shapes offers the nine basic shapes.
The new thing lies on that side, is joined by a line and opens straight away for typing. A double click or Alt and click on the plus attaches the same thing again at once, without the menu.
With the keyboard
With exactly one note, shape or text selected, you can build the mind map without a mouse:
| Key | does |
|---|---|
| Tab | attaches a new branch to the selected thing |
| Shift + Tab | puts a sibling next to it, on the same parent |
| Enter | types into the selected thing |
| Esc | stops typing |
Drag instead of click
Drag the plus onto another thing and the two are connected. If you drag it onto an empty spot, nexcanvas asks what should go there and puts it down exactly in that place.
Cora saysFor a big mind map there are the templates Mind map and Large mind map. The topic, branches and thoughts are already there.
