Drawing and writing · Chapter 4

Notes and text

The toolbar at the top of the board has everything you need for drawing and writing. The tools you reach for most often are the note, the little yellow slip, and free text.

Placing a note

Choose the Note (key N) and click on the board, and a square slip lies there and you can start typing straight away. If you drag instead of clicking, you decide the size yourself.

A second click on the tool opens the colours: Yellow, Orange, Pink, Violet, Blue, Green and Grey. You change the colour of a note that is already there in the bar that appears above it as soon as you select it. The more you write in a note, the smaller its type becomes, so that everything fits.

Free text

For headings and labels you take the Text (key T), or you simply double-click an empty spot. In the bar above the text you choose one of four sizes, the largest is called Heading, and with Aa you switch to Handwriting. Then there is the text colour; Automatic is white in the dark and black in the light.

Starting and ending writing

  • Starting: double-click a note, a shape or a text. If exactly one thing is selected, Enter is enough.
  • Ending: Esc, Ctrl + Enter or a click beside it.

Cora saysTwo people can type into the same note at the same time, and the words of both stay put. The chapter Live together shows what that looks like.

After placing

By default nexcanvas jumps back to Select after every thing you place. If you would rather place ten notes in a row, switch off Back to Select after placing something under Settings, General. The tool then stays chosen until you take another one or press Esc.
